Siliguri, 17th April: The occurrence of theft has become increasingly common in Siliguri. Rather than operating under the cover of darkness, thieves on vehicles are now brazenly stealing in broad daylight. This tactic allows for easier thefts to occur, as well as decreased suspicion from passersby. One such incident of theft came to light from the area under Matigara police station. Where two thieves fled away in an auto rickshaw after stealing an internet fiber machine of a company. While they were intending to sell the stolen goods, the undercover cops of Matigara police station, nabbed the duo and also recovered the stolen goods and the auto rickshaw.

As per the information, on April 15, a company had installed the said machine near the City Centre mall under Matigara police station area. After the fiber splicing machine was stolen, a complaint was lodged in the police station. Acting promptly, the police launched a campaign, on Sunday night, at a shop in Biswas Colony of Matigara infamous for selling stolen goods. The cops arrested the duo who arrived at the said shop to sell the stolen internet fiber machine. The accused have been identified as Ramani Roy of Samar Nagar and Santu Sarkar, a resident of Ashighar. The duo was produced in Siliguri court today. The police are probing the entire matter.
